National Workshop on Green Chemistry and Sustainable Development (GCSD-2017)

About GCSD – 2017

Department of Chemistry, National Institute of Technology (NIT) Jamshedpur administers to conduct of National Workshop on “Green Chemistry and Sustainable Development” (GCSD-2017) with the great sponsorship of Technical Education Quality Improvement Programme (TEQIP) Phase-II for 2 days event (17-03-2017 to 18-03-2017). The scope of coverage includes green catalysis, green solvents and reagents, Green chemicals and energy produced from renewable resources (biomass, carbon dioxide etc.), Novel materials and technologies for energy production and storage (bio-fuels and bioenergies, hydrogen, fuel cells, solar cells, lithium-ion batteries etc.), Green chemical engineering processes (process integration, materials diversity, energy saving, waste minimization etc., ,Green technologies for environmental sustainability (carbon dioxide capture, waste and harmful chemicals treatment, pollution prevention, environmental redemption etc.), Food and water safety, Global healthcare, Energy provision and Environmental protection etc. The Green Chemistry and Sustainable Technology is intended to provide an accessible knowledge resource for Surface Science Engineering, Environmental Management, academic researchers and industrial professionals who are interested in green chemistry and technologies for sustainable development. Each session of the meeting will be included with expert lectures, and discussions, join us to design sustainable development processes, innovations by which and how these strategies drive new policies, advances the business and human health protection.


The workshop will focus on fundamental principles that underlie current and anticipated developments and research scope in Chemistry.

The objectives of the workshop are to:

  • Document current development in the field and capture visions for future research
  • Identify gaps and needs, as well as applications that hold the greatest potential for impact

Target audience

The target groups attending the National workshop are well-selected researchers and professionals mainly from academic professional, scientific organizations, R&D labs, Paint technologies, Environment manager, Safety officers, defense official and public health agencies of Indian country. This national workshop is intended for people with Surface Science and Engineering and Chemistry background and need for instruction in the techniques and applications of experimental and soft computing techniques. In addition, this Workshop provides a common platform for transferring the knowledge about the recent trends in Green Chemistry and environmental sustainability.


The registration form, complete in all respects, duly forwarded by the Head of the Institute/Department accompanied by demand draft of requisite amount and covering letter should reach on or before 10 March 2017.

Research Scholars and students: Rs. 500/-

Faculties from Academic Institutes: Rs.2000/-

Personnel from Industry and R&D Organizations: Rs.3500/

The course registration fee is to be paid by DD (issued from any nationalized bank) in favour of Director, NIT Jamshedpur Payable at SBI NIT Branch (Code: 1882), Jamshedpur
